Plugs

If someone asks you who Plugs are, you tell ‘em and tell ‘em straight - they’re Morgan Quintace (on guitars, vocals, drum machine), Dave Chin (bass, keys, vocal, drum machine) and Boomer (drums). You might recognise Morgan from fronting divisive indie ravers Does It Offend You, Yeah?, but Plugs (butt plugs! HAH!) are a far more interesting proposition.

Signed to new indie Label Kill ‘Em All, run by those boys in Filthy Dukes, they’ve already had a couple of singles out – ‘That Number’ and ‘Imaginary Friend’ each gaining huge acclaim from the likes of NME, MTV, 6Music and Radios 1 and 2.

One of the hardest working, gigging and partying bands around, Plugs doggedly release a free downloadable track exclusively via their MySpace once a month. What’s remarkable is that they’re actually always worth listening to. New single ‘All Them Witches’ is not only musically, y’know, pretty top notch, but the cover’s been designed by Jeffrey Brown, a graphic novelist and alternative comic book illustrator par excellence. That’ll be why it looks amazing, then.

**COMING SOON**: Rockfeedback first set eyes on Plugs when they came down for a night of ours at the Lexington – the first at our new venue, indeed. Naturally, we filmed the boys’ set and grabbed them for an interview afterwards, because we’re like that. The fruits of both their pumping electro indie and wonderfully eloquent, amiable chatter will be online for you to watch with the re-design of Rockfeedback in the coming weeks.

MYSPACE.COM/PLUGSMUSIC: A blog that’s actually worth reading (if only to see a picture of Morgan from Plugs hugging Michael from The Wire, who’s smiling, which looks really weird), a monthly exclusive download, and some really spectacular artwork presented as nice, big, cumbersome jpegs – I really like Plugs’ MySpace.
TWITTER.COM/PLUGSMUSIC: Follow Plugs on twitter, why dontcha. You’ll get links to weird things like their weird version of a weird Captain Beefheart song, and little insights in to the workings of a touring band, such as the vital likes of “ok, 19 inch pizza in manchester post festival hotel room shock!!!!! That box is bigger then Dany Devito! said the guy at reception.” You need this in your life.
EXHIBITION – PLUGS LIVE FOR ROCKFEEDBACK @ THE LEXINGTON, 15/1/09: Appearing alongside Underground Railroad, Flashguns and Fireworks Night for Rockfeedback’s first show at its new Lexington home, Plugs played a ruddy blinder, and were documented photographically by Sol Archer’s able skills. See for yourselves here. They’re handsome men.
