The Noisettes

Shingai Shinawa, Jamie Morrison, Dan Smith; your time: now. A three-piece with not so much an inkling as a full-blown knowledge, man of what the hell the world desires/needs, they ply a three-pronged assault on the senses, through way of crushing rhythmic intensity, weaving and haunting guitar-lines, and true performance.
And in singer Shingai, The Noisettes aren’t so much fronted by a mere star, as an eighth wonder of the world. She purrs, coos, yells, croons, sings, and leaps and darts about the place with as much inhibition as a hammered Aussie. On six-string duties, Smith is so versatile and ensconced, we don’t even realise a bass is missing (God bless such fretboard finery and cunningly utilised octave pedals as his). And human hairball Jamie is so yeti-like and possessed behind the kit that even when he broke his ankle recently, his playing wasn’t even affected – in fact, it just got better.
With a worldwide deal inked with Universal; a debut LP set to be recorded in LA during the summer; and a hot-off-the-presses, limited-edition ‘Three Moods’ EP almost sold out following rave word-of-mouth and incendiary showings at every live-effort they’ve thus far exerted (inclusive of revered dates with Babyshambles and at rockfeedback’s Basement Club), that The Noisettes could be legendary isn’t in question. It’s true already.
