The Noisettes

Shingai Shinawa, Jamie Morrison, Dan Smith; your time: now. A three-piece with not so much an inkling as a full-blown knowledge, man of what the hell the world desires/needs, they ply a three-pronged assault on the senses, through way of crushing rhythmic intensity, weaving and haunting guitar-lines, and true performance.

And in singer Shingai, The Noisettes aren’t so much fronted by a mere star, as an eighth wonder of the world. She purrs, coos, yells, croons, sings, and leaps and darts about the place with as much inhibition as a hammered Aussie. On six-string duties, Smith is so versatile and ensconced, we don’t even realise a bass is missing (God bless such fretboard finery and cunningly utilised octave pedals as his). And human hairball Jamie is so yeti-like and possessed behind the kit that even when he broke his ankle recently, his playing wasn’t even affected – in fact, it just got better.

With a worldwide deal inked with Universal; a debut LP set to be recorded in LA during the summer; and a hot-off-the-presses, limited-edition ‘Three Moods’ EP almost sold out following rave word-of-mouth and incendiary showings at every live-effort they’ve thus far exerted (inclusive of revered dates with Babyshambles and at rockfeedback’s Basement Club), that The Noisettes could be legendary isn’t in question. It’s true already. The Noisettes

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: Tidy, handy online-home of the ‘ettes. Inclusive of a handy booking-form so you can book the band directly, if you have a half-decent club going on. We’d advise you to now. Before it becomes too bloody difficult.

RESONANCE FM: One of those rare radio-stations – like BBC Radio 6 – that’s actually f**king good. The Noisettes are known to regularly turn up and perform amidst its airwaves. The Noisettes

CONCERT REVIEW – LONDON SOHO BORDERLINE 2005: on a bill with chums and fellow, subversive genius wunderkinds, Mystery Jets, we’re floored.

INTERVIEW ARTICLE 2005: an in-depth synopsis into the intriguing, questioning minds of Shingai, Jamie and Dan.

REPORT: THE BASEMENT CLUB 2005: one of the most memorable Basement Club sets in recent memory, the crowd roared for more, even after the band had left the stage for a second time.

BANDWATCH: deservedly amongst fellow up-and-coming newbies that we feel will penetrate the public consciousness in the upcoming few months.
