Biffy Clyro

Here’s one for you. A band of three. Drums (Ben Johnston), guitar (Simon Neil) and bass (James Johnston). And three vocalists. Modern.

Nah, not that – but Biffy Clyro: Scotland’s raging trio of epic, grandiose, nigh-on prog. proportions – imagine your favourite rock-band breaking loose into the realms of the unanticipated and hacking to shreds the notion of conformity. Tuneful. Abrupt. Chaotic. Whimsical. Calculated. Free. The list goes on.

Live, the three-piece prosper hardest: a barrage of intense licks and kicks and surging venom. Albums – two: ‘Blackened Sky’ of ’02, and ‘The Vertigo Of Bliss’, 2003. Singles – many: notably top-40 hits via ‘The Ideal Height’ and ‘Questions & Answers’, whilst extensive touring has led to sell-out shows in the region of the thousands-plus. All from word-of-mouth – no hype, no bullshit.

Now go figure.
