Broken Social Scene

For now, there are only a few details that need instilling, regarding the rise of Canada’s Broken Social Scene.
They swap instruments. Have songs that aren’t so much ‘songs’ as epic marathons of ringing noise and bizarre, beautiful aural landscapes, masterfully implementing floating synths and drilling guitars. Pen such wonderful, potential alt-radio grabbers as ‘Almost Crimes’. Have an ever-recurrently changing live line-up. And feature in the region of ten to twelve recording band-members at any one time (inclusive of, and presumably not limited to: Justin Peroff, Brendan Canning, Jason Collett, Andrew Whiteman, Kevin Drew, Charles Spearin, John Crossingham, Emily Haines, Evan Cranley, James Shaw, Leslie Feist).
Yet, peculiarly, are still not blazingly pretentious. As demonstrated on the thrilling, debut album proper for Arts & Crafts, ‘You Forgot It In People’: a daring blend of joy and magic.
Broken Social Scene are here to redefine the confines of rock ‘n’ roll music, and you’ll follow, either open-armed, or kicking and screaming. This one will be a fascinating journey.
