Jet

Melbourne. Four scruffy, vinyl-clinging upstarts. The tale is a simple one – Jet, a band of youthful, hard-drinking retro-aficionados, with more than just a mere grasp of a hook and a rhyme, plus bedraggled hair-styles that would leave Keith Richards drawling in envy.

And, relevantly, so taken was the industry with their discovery in 2002 of vocalists and instrumentalists Nic and Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and eventual bassist Mark Wilson, that The Rolling Stones invited the foursome on a stadium-tour, where they cut their teeth to thousands on a daily basis. An EP later – ‘Dirty Sweet’, comprising four of the band’s most incendiary moments – and press-support reached fever-pitch further-afield – specifically in the US and UK, and soon the band clinched a seven-figure aided recording-contract with Elektra.

An album due for the fall/Autumn, and even guesting Billy Preston on keys, Jet’s timeless affair with rock ‘n’ roll looks set to manifest and spread amongst rebels and infidels of an entirely new generation.
