The Killers

The last great guitar-discovery of 2003...?

You wouldn’t bet against it. Las Vegas foursome The Killers have kicked up a storm in the past six months, only now gaining the status of ‘hot new prospect’, upon the major-label signing to the Island Def-Jam Group, and wild, debut-shows in the UK throughout the summer and winter.

A frolicking, rollicking and deeply frantic, melodic quartet, their skill is the song, enlaced with a forceful performance and frightful tenure almost impossible to shake off.

And featuring future heart-throb, cult-icons – vocalist Brandon Flowers (we piss-take you not), guitarist David Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci – the four-piece come from a land called Las Vegas. Hence the ultra-sleazy press-shots that accompany their every story or review. Really, what’s there to fault; check evidence in indie-label debut ‘Mr Brightside’ (Lizard King) for such assurance of their storming, immediate majesty.

OFFICIAL SITE: The self-run home-space of The Killers on the web; features witty sub-sections - not least the band\'s own depiction of their methodology to \'pay the man\' (apparently, vocalist Brandon Flowers is a bellhop at the Gold Coast Hotel, the man proclaiming, \'If I got a dollar for every time I was propositioned up to some MILF\'s room, I\'d be a rich man.\'). Classy.
