Beach Fossils
BIOGRAPHY:
Brooklyn based Beach Fossils began as a solo project in the autumn of 2009, when front man Dustin Payseur made the move from North Carolina to New York City. Inspired by improvisational jazz, classical music and shoegaze artists, Dustin set about experimenting with his eclectic mix of influences to channel a diverse range of creativity into a series of home recordings.
The result was a set of demos bathed in sun drenched pop, tinged with a dull melancholy that drifts along effortlessly. Having stumbled upon something stark and beautiful, Dustin recruited John Pena (bass), Sennott Burke (guitar) and Cole Smith (drums) to take on instrument responsibilities and transform the bands humble beginnings into something with a much fuller sound.
After securing the backing of Captured Tracks and Popfrenzy, Beach Fossils introduced their first dose of dreamy pop into the world via their self titled debut album, released earlier this year. The Brooklyn four-piece are currently on tour in Europe, promoting the aforementioned record with a handful of UK dates scattered sparsely over the next couple of months. On 16th November we’re very proud to announce that we will be one of the privileged few to host the band on home turf at The Lexington.
