Tame Impala are also a group of musically minded Australians. I have nothing against the Aussies, but of what I know about them they seem to be either boring, cricket players, or Tim Minchin. I reiterate, against none of which do I hold a grudge.
But Tame Impala- Kevin Parker (vocals/guitar/kazoo), Jay Watson (guitar/backing vocals), Dominic Simper (guitar/synth), and Nick Allbrook (bass)- are a whole different kettle of fish. Their thrashing yet smooth, groovy, psychedelic marathons of instrumental breaks embedded in their songs scream of Yes and other genuinely awesome ‘60s prog bands. So naturally, they’ve lured in crowds of listeners in with their hypnotic beats, and sold out their one-off UK show at London’s Cargo that they played last week.
