Yeah Yeah Yeahs

When vocalist Karen*O, guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase first came upon one another, surely, they couldn’t have anticipated all that was to soon follow…?

A New York threesome, the group formed two and a half years ago, soon going on to play alongside now-present contemporaries and then fans of the act, The Strokes and The White Stripes. Yet, much like their local success-stories, the buzz extended beyond the city – and it was the UK that demonstrated the most interest.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

An EP to accompany the visit, a self-titled four-track, self-titled debut, was the launch-pad to the band’s first ever British shows in the spring of 2002, both as headline, sell-out performances and a support-tour with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The media-excitement became near-exhaustive, and the band returned back to the US for dates, meanwhile delivering a further single – ‘Machine’ – released to further critical acclaim, and gained their first ever chart-hit.

With work completed on the trio’s first album, the plan is to tour, far and wide; and now ’03 has kicked off with yet more packed shows and crowded travelling-plans, it seems that the notion of cutting-edge guitar-rock eventually slowing down is, much to our benefit, a gross inaccuracy.

OFFICIAL SITE: A Flash-coated marvel - and one that may allow you to view cute, lil bunny-rabbits in a new way. Though we doubt it.

BANG: As named after the band\'s signature-tune, this is one of the web\'s key fan-sites, dedicated fully to the band.

YAHOO-GROUP: It\'s not totally geeky to make friends via the Internet, ya know... Well, it is a bit - but, still, chat and make chums here.
