Jarvis Cocker
Still it seems the old fellas are having to teach the young whippersnappers how it's done. Now that Britpop has long since ended and we're far enough removed from it for it to become a viable influence on new music again, we're starting to see the emergence of Jarvis-like sounds and sentiments all over the shop in bands like the Arctic Monkeys, the Kaiser Chiefs et al. Thing is, compared to the sounds coming from our radios in 1994, doesn't it all come across a little... reheated? There's a record out now called 'Jarvis'. On it, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker shows today's bands what they should be doing - not sticking to the blueprints, but picking them up, twisting them in their hands and throwing them in to the future.
