Blood Brothers

The Blood Brothers have been around for ten years now, and that’s a statistic that makes us feel horribly aged, and want to cry old mans tears. Formed in Seattle in ’97, the band number their two full-time vocalists Jordan Billie and Johnny Whitney (four names for two people, fancy that) along with Morgan Henderson on bass, Cody Votolato on guitar and Mark Gajadhar on drums, though at certain points you’ll find all of them bellowing along, or switching from their guitars to Wurlitzer organs or laptops.

Before today, it was true that the band had released four records – ‘This Adultery is Ripe’ in 2000, ‘March on Electric Children’ two years later, 2003’s ‘Burn, Piano Island, Burn’ and the decidedly stripped back yet still exhilarating ‘Crimes’ in ’04. Their newest, greatest record is entitled ‘Young Machetes’, and is out on these shores this very day. It was co-produced by Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, and a dozen of its startling tracks hark back to earlier, rowdier days of the band. It’s one stunning record.
