Chromeo number two fellows, one called Pee Thug (who operates the analogue synth, drum machine and talk box), the other called Dave 1 (on guitar and vocals). Dave’s real name is David Macklovitch, but as for Pee Thug, we can only assume that was just the name that momma and poppa Thug chose to give their little baby – there’s no mention anywhere of it being a pseudonym…

The young Pee Thug and Dave 1 have been friends since growing up together in Montreal. David can also be found studying for a Ph.D in French Literature from Columbia University, teaching an undergraduate class when he’s not got his head buried in a book, or, of course, playing guitar for Chromeo. Discovered in their hometown by Tiga, who signed them up to his own Turbo Recordings label, the duo released their first EP of delightful electro funk in 2004 – ‘She’s In Control’. They followed it with ‘Un Joli Mix Pour Toi’ (‘a pretty mix for you’) of funk dance on Eskimo Belgium records in 2005, before in 2007 heading out on tour with Block party and releasing their sophomore LP proper, the inescapably enjoyable ‘Fancy Footwork’ this very week. Think Cameo, think Prince, think unashamed pop joy.
