Vetiver

Vetiver’s sound directly reflects their past, full of slow builds and gradual development. Born and bred in North Carolina, head song writer and lead vocalist Andy Cabic took the project bicoastal in 2004 to San Francisco, on the back of the band’s debut LP DiCristina. After finding a home in Fat Cat Records following a string of nationwide tours, Vetiver have continued their steady ascend.

Vetiver’s beauty lies largely in a warm and inviting sound that’s only got warmer and more inviting with the release of each album. Part of the perfect hangover cure, no soundtrack to a lazy Sunday afternoon is complete without at least one of Vetiver’s folky melodies. Teetering on the edge of surrealism with an almost weightless feel, the band stays grounded with a tight rhythm section and intelligent, well structured song writing.

After ending 2008 with a flurry of live shows, 2009 sees the band gear up for a short European tour followed by a mammoth 40 date stint across America to support the release of their 4th studio album Tight Knit. Known for paying attention to detail regarding artwork, this release is no exception; featuring a gorgeous CD package that mirrors the bands continual progression towards perfection.

VETIVERSE.COM: A Vetiverse, indeed – there’s loads here, and this official site does a good job of telling you everything from where Vetiver are playing next to what they had for dinner without looking cluttered.

MYSPACE.COM/VETIVERSE: Bless, Vetiver have done absolutely nothing whatsoever to make their MySpace at all interesting. What’s that old adage about letting the music do the talking?

VETIVER @ FAT CAT: One of those labels who only release good stuff, ever, Fat Cat released Vetiver for a bit, so, make of that what you will.
