Dimbleby & Capper
Just to clear things up, Dimbleby & Capper are both 21-year-old Laura Bettinson. This caused this author a little confusion upon first viewing - was Dimbelby the hip-swinging chanteuse? Or perhaps the band, clad in attire more appropriate for medieval doctors than a rock band? Or neither; was it fair and universal volk manifest as music? Decisions! Choices! Confusions! But yes, the band of the week for the 6th-12th July is the solo project from this straight-outta-Goldsmiths seductress. Whilst musically combining Rain Dogs-esque bone clacks with moody glitch-blues, it's Bettinson herself that sells the project, her voice and stage demeanour oozing a sneaky, sheepish femme fatale-itude that's utterly beguiling. Tracks like 'Structure' have been gentle shore-breakers in the blogosphere ocean for some time now, and we're just hoping that a full-blown tsunami isn't too far off.
