Beach Fossils is a Brooklyn-based group, formed in early 2009 by Dustin Payseur. After signing to Captured Tracks and quickly pulling together a live band, they took off playing countless shows across the U.S. gathering a slew of devoted fans in their wake. In May of the same year, their debut LP Beach Fossils met with favorable reviews and became known for its jangly, single note guitar style, dusted with summer-fueled romance.
Payseur takes influence from music, poetry, art and philosophers (Don Cherry, Ravi Shankar, Rumi, Lao-Tzu and Jean Cocteau), having an equal and crucial impact on his work. Steady members of the band have actively formed their own groups, guitarist Cole Smith with DIIV and John Peña with Heavenly Beat. Both of which have recently signed to Captured Tracks.
2012 was a busy year for PAWS. It’s seen the band sign with Brooklyn/Brighton based label FatCat Records and tour the UK and Europe extensively. Their first release on the label in May, the self recorded/produced “Misled Youth EP” was supported by a run of UK shows opening for L.A’s Bleached (ex Mika Miko sisters Jen and Jess Clavin). Key shows at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival, Beacons Festival and appearances at Vice Issue Launch parties in London and Brighton were met with great success to audiences welcoming PAWS with open arms. PAWS go into 2013 bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to take on new challenges and bring their music to new places that they haven’t had a chance to yet.
Tickets for this show are priced at £9.50 and go on sale at 9am on Friday 8th March. from the following links:
