After releasing the incredible Midcity earlier this year, Los Angeles hip-hop outfit Clipping. have signed to Seattle indie legends Sub Pop who will release their label debut in 2014. They are playing their first ever London show at Birthdays on October 18th bringing their extraordinary combination of noise, rhythm and lyrical precision. Formed in 2009, initially as a remix project, clipping. acquired a vocalist in 2011 and began pursuing music-making at the intersection of gangster rap, music concrete and harsh noise.

clipping. makes party music for the club you wish you hadn’t gone to, the car you don’t remember getting in, and the streets you don’t feel safe on; are phantom broadcasts bleeding into Power 106 as you drive out of range; are twenty different rappers looking into one broken mirror, talking to themselves all at once; are classic west coast rap music out of the tradition where sounding different wasn’t cause for fear.

MXLX is Matt from Beak>. He is the one who stands up and plays keyboards. He likes to play alone too. He makes much music under different names. MXLX is the name for sonic freedom, noise, drone, bliss, joy, hate, anything. Matt likes making music and doesn't like much else. Matt makes music so he can feel good and hopes that other people can feel good from his music too. They probably won't because Matt can't play nice.

Tickets for this show are priced at £7.50 and are on-sale now from the following links:
