Post War Years are a glorious mess of contradictions. The group’s new tracks are simultaneously complex and epic, fuzzy and clear, and all underpinned by polyrhythmic beats that could start a party pretty much anywhere. New song “The Bell” begins with militant beats straight out of Portishead’s Third and evolves into a synth-laden life-affirming slice of dancefloor-friendly magic.
Fiction are a four-piece band from London, formed in 2009. Members Mike Barrett (vocals, keys, drums), James Howard (vocals, guitars, drums), David Miller (vocals, bass) and Nick Barrett (guitars) coalesce to create what has been describedas ‘perfect, anarchic pop’. The band have recently toured with Warpaint, Klaxons and Metronomy and have recorded live sessions for BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, XFM and Diesel Radio. These performances have produced encouraging reactions, such as: ‘the most startling new live act I’ve heard all year’ (Tom Robinson BBC 6Music).
