THE BASEMENT CLUB #38 [FUTURE SOUNDS VOLUME ONE]
After a few months off, rockfeedback's Basement Club emerges from its hibernation period with a bang. In the first of what will become regular head-rearing from our Future Sounds alter ego (the section of rockfeedback dedicated to bringing you the bestest, newest-est music around - music so new it barely even exists), we're delighted to present to you four of the hottest, freshest acts in the country right now. They be...
#1 - JOE LEAN AND THE JING JANG JONG: Two Young & Lost Club label acts this evening - and this first set, the headliners, are much-talked-about, hot property, sought after by every record-label under the sun for a long-term contract. Visceral, primal, tuneful rock 'n' roll swagger with charisma, but none of the annoyance that often comes along with it. Possibly a band of 2008... MYSPACE.
#2 - NOAH & THE WHALE: That 2nd Young & Lost Club act; pummelling folk rhythms and a born-star frontman in the form of Charlie Fink... A diverse array of instruments lines their stage at gigs, and the songs are instant classics in waiting. MYSPACE.
#3 - SLOW CLUB: Massively reckoned newbies, fresh off the road with Noisettes, and newly signed to Moshi Moshi, this incredible duo outfit play a low-key set and are set to hush with their lush, beautiful sounds. MYSPACE.
#4 - LAURA GROVES: Freshly taken on-board by the management-team behind Guillemots - safe hands, then - this elegaic, 19-year-old songstress has written some of the most winsome, charming and powerful folk music to grace your ears... yet you don't know it yet. Give it 'til this evening before the discovery sets in. Newly acquired a full backing-band - not to be missed. MYSPACE.
So that's FUTURE SOUNDS VOLUME ONE, then. Well, all that, and the usual - i.e. DJ services courtesy of us at Rockfeedback and the fellows Bosh!, from 8pm - 2am, Thursday 24th of May 2007 at the Buffalo Bar, beneath the Famous Cock (tee hee!) tavern, next to Highbury and Islington Tube Station, N1.
Tickets are available at a cost of £6.00 (£1.50 per band, maths fans...), and must be reserved to guarantee entry HERE, or by clicking on the banner above.
Come say hi - we'll be the ones grinning inanely about how brilliant everything is.
