Former Lift to Experience frontman Josh T. Pearson emerged as a solo artist in 2011 after a decade in the wilderness. Josh T. Pearson’s debut solo album is a collection of seven songs drawn from the lessons of what he describes as “a rough year”; songs that are personal, powerful, painful, songs that move with their honesty, that offer hope from the trials he’s suffered and survived. The songs were recorded in a
Berlin studio in two nights, freshly written and committed to tape after Josh saw how they affected audiences when he played them.

A Saturday night of music and readings at Hackney's St John Church, headlined by Josh T Pearson

Rising up from the bed of the River Tyne, a voice that crumbles and soars, that is steeped in age-old balladry and finely-chiselled observations of the mundane, Richard Dawson is a skewed troubadour at once charming and abrasive. His shambolically virtuosic guitar playing stumbles from music-hall tune-smithery to spidery swatches of noise-colour, swathed in amp static and teetering on the edge of feedback. His songs are both chucklesome and tragic, rooted in a febrile imagination that references worlds held dear and worlds unknown. New album Nothing Important out now on Weird World/Domino, hypnotises from its tender dark whispers to its wild screams, an unparalleled voice in today’s over-preened and manufactured music world.

Briana Marela is a vocalist, composer, and sound conjurer from the Pacific Northwest. Having formative roots in Seattle and Olympia, WA her aesthetic sensibility derives from many other kindred spirits of the local music scene, but with her own unique vision of the world around her. She weaves together melodies with meaning and lyrics filled with longing using max/MSP to achieve vocal looping/processing/sampling. Marela has a finished debut album in the works that was recorded in Iceland with producer Alex Somers. The album is out now on Jagjaguwar.

Let’s Eat Grandma are an experimental duo from Norwich, Norfolk. Best friends since the age of four, multi-instrumentalists Rosa and Jenny, 16, create imaginative and original music that crosses the worlds of pure pop and progressive weirdness.

With a leg (pun intended) in the world of modern high-gloss pop, and another in the esoteric psychedelia of those with much more varied record collections, somehow both sophisticated and adventurous yet still refreshingly unaffected, Let's Eat Grandma are creating something unique and totally thrilling.

‘Oh boy. If there is a band out there with the potential to act as a litmus test for idiocy in a certain type of music journalist in 2015, then Let's Eat Grandma are it . . .  too frightening and weird to be totally childish, too uncodified and uncliched to be totally adult . . . they could head off in almost any direction and that’s rather thrilling.’ John Doran, The Quietus
