Unfortunately due to illness Phantogram will no longer able to perform at this show, NZCA/Lines joins the bill instead.  Below is a statement from the band, we wish Josh a speedy recovery.

“With huge regret we have to cancel the rest of our European dates.  Josh broke his hand and is now in a cast.  We'll be back to Europe after he's healed and once we have some new music for you to hear.  Thank you all for the love and support.”

POLICA

Minneapolis continues its golden run of producing quality talent with the first project to arrive out the Gayngs collective, the super slick electronic pop-soul outfit POLIÇA. Fronted by ice cool vocalist Channy Leanagh who sang with Gayngs, produced by Ryan Olson and featuring Mike Noyce from Bon Iver, it’s a who’s who of the current Twin Cities scene.

After collaborating in the studio and live with Gayngs in 2010, it became apparent that Channy and Ryan should form a group of their own. “As touring progressed and Channy got more comfortable with the band and singing the songs, she would reinvent the parts she was doing in brilliant ways. It made me want to see where else she could go” explains Olson. Ryan’s pop sensibilities and electronic adventurism would prove to be the perfect vehicle for Channy’s recent growth and evolution as a vocalist and dynamic experimentalist. In June 2011, they began writing together what would become POLIÇA’s debut album, Give You The Ghost.

The result is 11 perfectly formed auto-tuned songs that re-shape the intersection of pop and digitised R&B. And for all Poliça’s synthetic manipulation, Channy’s soft vocals and Ryan’s electronic soundscapes reveal a tender heart beneath, pulsating with life and raw emotion. Born out of the break-up of a recent relationship, the majority of Give You The Ghost reflects the difficulty of facing up to your mistakes and making peace with them; an exorcism via exciting new musical possibilities.

The name POLIÇA refers to the word ‘policy’, meaning a definite course of action adopted for the sake of expediency, suggesting they were formed out of necessity. Which is exactly how this album feels and sounds; urgent, original and genre defying, POLIÇA are absolutely essential in 2012.

“Pick of the festival (SXSW) were POLIÇA... they sound like the future: understated, ethereal space age pop that explodes into furious groove, all brought into focus by the effects laden vocals and mesmerising moves of front woman Channy Leanagh” The Telegraph

“Gayngs alumni flip a pair of aces with this undulating slice of percussion-heavy hypnotism” NME

NZCA/LINES

Originally conceived as a guitar-based project, NZCA/Lines evolved into a suave, synth-pop sensation that combines pop melodies with r&b beats, lush arrangements with multi-layered harmonies.  With the assistance of producer (and loaf label-mate) Charlie Alex march and mixer ash workman (Simian Mobile Disco, Metronomy, etc.), main-man Michael Lovett (ex bassist of Your Twenties) delivers one of the year's most thrilling debut albums. From the opening notes it's clear that a unique and beautiful talent is at work. Something about the clarity of the arrangements, the crisp harmonies and insidious melodies sets NZCA/Lines apart. Shimmering slices of dream-pop the likes of which have not been heard since Scritti Politti's 'Cupid and Psyche', follow one after another to create a future world rooted in timeless magic.

This show has an age restriction of 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).

All tickets or this show are now completely SOLD OUT.
