RE-TROS

Raised by intellectuals in the Chinese city of Nanjing, Re-TROS (Rebuilding the Rights of Statues) frontman Hua Dong was exposed to the arts from an early age. As a young boy, Dong befriended an American classmate, whose mother taught at the local school alongside his own mother. The two boys often spent time hanging out at Dong’s house, up until his friend returned to the U.S. That boy was Kanye West.

In his teens, Dong began writing his own songs and aspired to start a band. He decided to attend university in Germany, where he furthered his knowledge of rock and electronic music.

After graduation, Dong returned home and began drumming for Chinese punk rockers PK14, where he met bassist and future collaborator Liu Min. Min and Dong soon moved to Beijing and formed Re-TROS, recording their debut EP (which includes contributions from Brian Eno on several tracks) for Modern Sky Records. The band has since toured the world, sharing bills with artists like Gang of Four, PIL, and most recently Ought. Dong credits Bauhaus, Joy Division, Television, and Pere Ubu among his greatest influences.

FREE MONEY

Having only played a handful of shows since their genesis in May 2016, Free Money have already kicked up a storm, demanding attention from the likes of DIY and The Line of Best Fit. Their debut track 'Headful' was "the opening statement of a band already supremely confident in themselves," with "a chorus that should have come from a band with half a decade of songs under their belt."- DIY

Living, loving and breathing together in their East London dwelling, Free Money came to be with the intent to force "their rebellious, punchy charm" (The Line of Best Fit) onto anyone within earshot or sight. Brace yourselves for Free Money's own brand of raucous, high energy pop and "get ready to mosh" - The Line of Best Fit

KONE

KONE are a three-piece made up of guitarist/singer Alice Ream, bassist/singer Jonny Mundey and drummer Graeme Murray. Attracting comparisons to The Fall and innovators such as  Prinzhorn Dance School the band’s intention is to push the tried and tested guitar/bass/drums format in new and uncompromising directions.

Alice is a multi instrumentalist and music therapist. Jonny’s busy with soundtrack work, and Graeme was formerly drummer in legendary polymath rock band Youthmovies, as well as being the brains behind experimental drum troupe OCD Drumline.
