BILLY MAHONIE
Billy Mahonie were and are a very important band to the Rockfeedback and Transgressive team – and to the likes of Foals and Bloc Party too. As such we were delighted to hear that after a lengthy break they were releasing a new LP, and have managed to convinced them to congregate from their now disparate homes of Norway and London to play a special album launch show for us. An incredibly powerful and intense live band who mix a Kraut-y, dance-based instrumental side with occasionally folk and heavy rock features, they released their hugely influential early albums on Southern and Too Pure records, and this will be their fifth record.
GYRATORY SYSTEM
Formed from the ashes of the critically acclaimed One More Grain, Gyratory System are a horn-led live electronics instrumental group. Seemingly rooted in the post-punk of the likes of PiL and leftfield disco / dance of the same period, GS take from the past and push wildly into the future, probably on a spaceship marked "new frontiers". Now signed to the ever-excellent Angular Recording Corporation, GS are a fantastically original and convention-shattering band, and it's live where they really come into their own. www.myspace.com/gyratorysystem
KOGUMAZA
Kogumaza is the new project of Chris Summerlin, known for his work with other bands like Lords, Reynolds and Wolves! The trio encapsulte everything from quiet melodic post-rock instrumentals to heavier stoner-rock freakouts and glitchy experimintalism. www.myspace.com/oogamaza
DJing comes courtesy of the fine folk at Southern Records. It all takes place on October 8th at The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, London. Angel and Kings Cross are your nearest tube stations.
Some very special guests in support are to be announced shortly.
Tickets cost £6.00 in advance and can be purchased HERE.
