Yep, five already. If our sister label Transgressive were a child it'd be old enough to answer back, throw a paddy and get me into the new Transformers film without looking like a sad old geek. But it's not. It's a music company. So to celebrate we've gathered together some of our key artists for a celebration of all things Transgressive in an intimate live setting in central London.
Mercury Prize nominated for their seminal debut album on Transgressive, the Andy Gill-produced Voices of Animals & Men, this Oxfordshire trio have won many hearts with their unique brand of eclectic and enchanting modern storytelling. A perfect blend of rural wrongness and office chic, Henry, Oliver and Thomas have scored a slew of top-40 hits since their signing to Transgressive, with second album Superabundance widening the audience further. Work has commenced on a third album, due for release in the early part of 2010 and this show is their ONLY London headline this year, giving a rare opportunity to hear the brand-new material alongside a selection of classic material ahead of its release some months down the line.
+ THE RAKES!!
Doom-purveying prog-relishers Ox.Eagle are fronted by the iconic and unforgettable Frederick Blood-Royale. Weaving vivid, inquisitive religious musings with intricate Fripp-y guitars, tumultuous precision drumming and pounding bass, Ox are currently two acclaimed EPs into a conceptual three-EP project, or ‘opus’. Leading the slow but steady emergence of the darker rock fraternity in London, Ox have now vowed to perform only rarely and ‘when it matters’. The fact they deem the Transgressive Anniversary such an occasion heralds great things.
