Yep, five already. If our sister label Transgressive were a child it'd be old enough to answer back, throw a paddy and get me into the new Transformers film without looking like a sad old geek. But it's not. It's a music company. So to celebrate we've gathered together some of our key artists for a celebration of all things Transgressive in a special live setting. This time in north London's gloriously spectacular Union Chapel.
Posterboy for the modern folk scene, actor, poet, artist and songwriter Flynn has flown off into a diverse and enthralling wash of sound that has seen debut LP A Larum hailed universally the world over by critics as one of the most important folk albums of the last decade. Johnny also contributed largely to a ‘UK Folk Reclamation’ of America, with sold out shows from New York’s Bowery Ballroom to LA’s Hotel Café and all major cities in between. With the second album is currently in construction (due date: spring 2010), this is Flynn's only scheduled London headline show this year.

An influential cult hero of recent times, whether through his much-coveted and addictive songs with unique home production, effortless genre-melding (anything from electronica to 80s rock gets put in the Warmsley blender), or online television shows, Jeremy Warmsley has become a staple part of the modern music scene. A firm Rockfeedback friend, his performance at Union Chapel will also involve an unveiling of is his new ‘Ragged Choir’ project.
Mechanical Bride, aka Lauren Doss, is currently midway through recording her long-awaited debut album in a manor house in the countryside. Following her much-talked-about ‘Christmas present’ Rihanna cover of ‘Umbrella’ in 2007, a great body of work has established itself already for this 22-year-old all-round songwriting innovator. Intricately involved with all her artwork and visual identity, now the overall universe of Mechanical Bride is finally coming right to the fore, and this all-too-rare performance ahead of the 2010 debut album will be a scintillating affair to cherish.
DAN MICHAELSON & THE COASTGUARDS
Frontman and chief songsmith for erstwhile-creative hub Absentee, Dan Michaelson’s new ensemble have received much auspicious mumblings thanks to fabulous downbeat debut Saltwater, released earlier this year. With a voice lower than a bottomless ocean, Dan and co. so far complete Transgressive’s more ambient day of music at Union Chapel on the Saturday 26th of September, and are sure to open proceedings in fine style.
