Ahhhh...August is nearly upon us, and whilst the world decants to festivals all over the land every weekend, don't you worry, we'll still be bringing the noise under the roofs with some festivities indoors at Rockfeedback gigs. Here's a show featuring a London debut from a new wonderfully majestic 11-piece band from California, some more remarkable new talent from the capital and a sneak preview of that lovely Jeremy Warmsley's new musical project.
EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS - As if out of some kind of marvellous novel, this LA 11-piece musical collective fronted by Alex Ebert make big, open-hearted anthems that evoke an uplifting, wondrous and sunshine-baked time. It screams ’60s psychedelia and ’70s boho-rock right down to touring in a converted school bus with the band’s name in script on the side and a driver named Cornfed (probs not in the UK though, quite hard to come by them). A truly remarkable new band, this show marks their UK debut. Over in support of an LP release on the wonderful Rough Trade records, they call to mind the likes of Arcade Fire, Elvis Perkins and Richard Swift, whilst remaining truly original first and foremost.
DIMBLEBY AND CAPPER - Dimbleby & Capper is actually 21-year-old Laura Bettinson, backed by an array of masked multi-instrumentalists. Musically combining Rain Dogs-esque bone clacks with moody glitch-blues and mystical Bat for Lashes-esque fantastical-pop, Bettinson's voice and stage demeanour oozes a sneaky, sheepish femme fatale-itude that’s utterly beguiling and has understandably caused quite a stir of late.
JEREMY WARMSLEY'S THE COLD SWEATS - Stopping in for an special exclusive performance with his brand new band, cult London troubadour and our sister label Transgressive alumni Jeremy Warmsley's new band The Cold Sweats will naturally be another fantastic project from one of the capital's fine young talents of recent years. Make sure to be here first for a special sneak preview!
Djing inbetween the bands will be the Rockfeedback team spectacular, and watch yo'selves, as some special guest Djs are set to be confirmed too.
So that's all at The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, London, N1 9JB, on Thursday 20th July. Angel or Kings Cross St. Pancras tubes will sort you out. Tickets are a paltry £6.00, and should be snapped up HERE - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/54269
Also keep your eyes to the site to hear about a couple of other great upcoming Rockfeedback live events to be revealed for the end of August.
