She Keeps Bees return to London this November to play The Lexington.
She Keeps Bees is a blues rock band from Brooklyn, New York, consisting of Jessica Larrabee on vocals and guitar and Andy LaPlant on drums. They have been compared to the likes of Patti Smith, the White Stripes, PJ Harvey and Cat Power.
The duo formed in 2006, while Larrabee was recording an album as a solo artist under the name She Keeps Bees ("bees" coming from her surname) and met LaPlant while bartending. He soon helped to produce her music and started attending her shows, until she suggested he play with her. They have self-produced/released three records as a band since forming and have toured both the US and Europe with artist such as Joy Formidable and Sharon Van Etten. Larabee has also been a guest vocalist for Sharon van Etten and on Groove Armada's Grammy-nominated album Black Light.
