LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum (DFA / EMI)

By: Thomas Hannan

LCD Soundsystem

Praise the Lord that it's less than a month before a few more LCD Soundsystem tracks find their way in to the world. It was mean of James Murphy to leave us for so long with only the dozen or so he did.

Yep, we here at Rockfeedback wore down that first album until it was just one smooth piece of black vinyl. Delighted we are then that on March 12th, the second LP gets its long awaited release - entitled 'Sound of Silver' (check the artwork above, James likes it so much he regards it whilst drinking tea), it was recorded on a farm (that makes no sense) and is preceded by a single, 'North American Scum', on March 5th.

That track, the last one to be recorded for the album, sees the rebirth of LCD as a great pop band, still with their three note synth riffs and Mark E Smith impersonations, but now shinier, funkier and resplendent with James Murphy's new found falsetto vocal. Honestly, the groove on this one is massive. It leaves nobody in doubt as to the band's origins - "for those of you who still think we're from England... we are North American scum!" - and has a video in which James takes his band, somehow, to the moon. Watch it here, before you're singing it everywhere you go:
