Good Shoes - Morden (Brille)

By: Thomas Hannan

Good Shoes

Morden. Gritty, not without charm, basic, aware of its flaws. This could apply to both Morden the place in south London and 'Morden', the song about the hometown of the band Good Shoes that acts as their most recent, occasionally chilling single, detailing everything from muggings to youths hanging themselves from supermarket car parks. However, there are superlatives we can apply to the song and the band which certainly wouldn't befit the geographical location they sing of, ones like 'actually really pretty bloody good'.

For some reason, I find myself championing the cause of Good Shoes more than any other jangly indie band of late. I've not quite put my finger on why my admiration of them exists to quite the extent it does, but songs like Morden, the video to which you should watch HERE, certainly have something to do with it.
