What the hell is going on? #3
By: Thomas Hannan

Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed the coherence and sense of comfort afforded us by our ‘Folk Week’ last week – and especially lovely it was to have the marvellous Alessi of Alessi’s Ark penning an article for us on Friday to wrap things up – but if we’re honest, we’re all about mixing things up. If last week on Rockfeedback TV was ‘Folk Week’, this week could more accurately be referred to as ‘F**ked Week’, as we unveil three pieces on bands who have joyously little to do with each other whatsoever.
Starting today, we head back to last year’s MELT! Festival in Germany to party hard on the beach with electronica whizz kid Boys Noize (pictured above), who’s just this week announced the release of his new album Power on October 5th. Check that footage HERE. Perhaps the only thing the band who follow them on Wednesday, Scottish indie heroes Idlewild, have in common with Boys Noize is that they too have a new album on the horizon – but our footage of them at this year’s Camden Crawl instead captures them performing selections from their classic 100 Broken Windows LP instead (yay!). We take another left turn on Friday when we leave you for the weekend in the capable hands of sample-happy grown up popster Dan Black, performing at the inaugural Hinterland Festival in Glasgow earlier this year. Similarly to say, any good record collection, that list of artists makes no sense whatsoever. Brilliant.
In other Rockfeedback business, we’ll be able to announce in a few hours who exactly is playing our secret gig at The Lexington in London on Wednesday night and how you can win tickets to it (all we’ll say for the moment is that they’re incredibly loud and utterly brilliant), the second instalment of our surprisingly well-received (ta!) podcast will be online within days, along with the usual torrent of reviews, interviews, wit and repartee you’ve come to expect from sods like us. If you’re heading to the Leeds festival on Sunday, make sure you check out the Rockfeedback DJs on the Transgressive Records stage too – we’ll be playing between bands like Future of the Left, The Invisible, Wave Machinesand Two Door Cinema Club. Sod Kings of Leon!
In the meantime - shall we parade The Ashes on an open top bus ride through London? Awesome.
