What the hell is going on? #5: END OF THE ROAD WEEK
By: Thomas Hannan

Bloody HELLO,
What are you doing this weekend? We’re going off to film the End of the Road festival for Rockfeedback TV, and we think you should come with us. So, as has become customary throughout the summer, we’re dedicating a week on the site to convincing you of its brilliance.
Rockfeedback TV’s three shows this week will come from acts featured on the End of the Road bill, starting today with something really special, as The Dodos showcase tracks from their superb new LP Time To Die in another of our exclusive Rockfeedback Sessions (pictured above), filmed in the round on the floor of The Lexington, the venue beneath our London office (it’s not like there’s any other office, but still, we like it here!). Wednesday’s feature is another fine piece in the shape of a sparkling duet between Fanfarlo and First Aid Kit tackling a Devendra Banhart number, filmed acoustically in the sunshine exclusively for Rockfeedback’s Field Day ’09 coverage. We end on Friday with Bella Union boys Vetiver, who do that beardy, weirdy, exploratory psych-folk really rather well.
Moreover, Jason Molina’s sublime Magnolia Electric Company are our band of the week in celebration of their End of the Road appearance (and wonderful new LP Josephine), and festival organiser Sofia Hagberg will be writing us a piece on the event’s history, her hopes for the event, and ideal, pie in the sky line ups. If you need a little bit more convincing that it’s worth your time, here’s a video of Boyz II Men performing ‘End of the Road’ to the troops of the United States Air Force in Korea (yeah...)
That should do it – buy tickets at the fan exchange!
Though we expect to party harder than Andrew WK when he listens to Prince’s ‘1999’ when we reach EOTR, we’re far from giving ourselves a slow start to the week – Thursday sees our fascinating Rockfeedback Japan!! evening at The Lexington, in which Anchorsong, Bo Ningen, A Month of Sundays and No Cars make up the bill for our night of music from the land of the rising sun. We’ve also got gigs coming up from Pulled Apart By Horses, That F**king Tank and Friendship, whilst you can also buy tickets for our recently announced album launch show from reformed cult heroes Billy Mahonie.
Elsewhere on Rockfeedback this week, we’ll be sending along our beloved “ten stone anaemic indie weakling” Matt Tomiak (if you’ve no idea what that’s in reference to, have a listen to the second episode of our podcast) to review each and every night of the Fistful of Fandango Festival, featuring the likes of Future of the Left, Herman Dune, Art Brut and the almighty Kong. You can also have a go at winning tickets to every night of the thing if you so desire, which you should. What’s more, Male Bonding grant us an interview, we’ve summed up everything that was great about the Leeds Festival, and a verdict on the much-anticipated Noah and the Whale comeback LP is brewing as we speak.
Altogether now – “We’ve come, to the eeeeend of the rooooad... still I can’t let you goooo....”
We’ll be in touch.
