What The Hell Is Going On? #10: Rockfeedback’s World Tour Pt. 1

By: Thomas Hannan

Hey Monday people.

Much as I miss the days when you could hear the soothing voice and always right-on musical choices of Gideon Coe on BBC 6Music in the mornings, there are worse things to wake up to than the sound of the ever personable Sean Keavney.  I’ve now spent so many mornings in a half awake state in the presence of his radio show that I’ve started to think ‘All The Kings Men’ by Wild Beasts (a song he plays at least once a show) is actually one of the finest compositional works I’ve ever heard – head here and start agreeing with me.

In other news, today sees the beginning of Rockfeedback TV’s World Tour.  What the hell is that, you ask?  Well, what it will become is an ongoing series where we delve into our archives to bring you live performances, interviews, sessions and the like from the various cities worldwide where Rockfeedback cameramen have struggled to order cocktails.  We’ll be jetting everywhere from Berlin and Reykjavik to Texas and Barcelona over the course of the coming weeks, starting today in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a stunning headline performance by the Kaiser Chiefs (whose singer Ricky’s pictured above) at last year’s Planeta Terra festival.  On Wednesday, we stay a little closer to home with some footage filmed in London’s Lexington (the venue space beneath our office) of the remarkable Jess Bryant, who performs a session for us.  You might not have heard the name before, but trust us, it’s breathtaking stuff.  We finish up on Friday with Jade Tree Records stalwart Micah P Hinson over in Austin at SXSW, before World Tour Pt. 2 hits your screens next week.

Elsewhere, we spend seven days bigging up Kings of Convenience, our current Artist of the Week, we’ll unveil some words from the resurgent Maps who returns this month with his second LP, and if it’s Rockfeedback live action you’re after, here are some details of a particularly exciting gig we’re running with Cymbals Eat Guitars.

Going now, bye!

Tom.
