What The Hell Is Going On? #12: Rockfeedback’s World Tour Pt. 3
By: Thomas Hannan

What a splendid old friend meeting, new shoes dirtying, quite silly new jumper sporting, exhibition visiting, records in their cellophane unwrapping, Addlestones* cloudy cider quaffing, grabbing a draw from the brink of defeat at the football witnessing, Richard Herringing weekend that was. I hope yours was similarly life affirming. And it’s nice to see you back here so early on a Monday, too. Thanks!
As a reward for your promptness, we’ll happily explain to you what’ll be happening in part three of Rockfeedback’s TV’s World Tour (a concept first debuted two weeks ago). This time, our not intergalactic but certainly planetary mince around the globe takes us first to Sao Paulo, where Bloc Party (pictured above) talk to us about Brazilian transvestites and miming on television before performing a blinder of a set to ten thousand or so South Americans (and our crew of four Brits, and one Kiwi). After that, we’re back in London town on Wednesday at the invitation of quite fascinating Arcade Fire collaborators Bell Orchestre, with live footage and interview filmed at their recent Relentless Garage show. Not a show at which they played a load of relentless garage, by the way – just a gig at the peculiarly named venue that shares a name with punishing nineties dance music. Come Friday, we celebrate the life of a lo-fi, brattish, noisy, messy, punk as they come but now sadly departed band named Mika Miko, out at SXSW in Austin, Texas earlier this year. RIP guys, and can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
A quick glance at the diary reveals that (for once) there’s also a lot going on this week that isn’t (yet) on a Rockfeedback TV screen. We’re excited to see Les Savy Fav playing the premiere of the All Tomorrow’s Parties film at the HMV Forum in London tonight (‘specially ‘cos Rockfeedback TV shot some of the footage included in the documentary – oh, and ‘cos L.S.F. are ace), and our Artists of the Week, The Wave Pictures, rounding up their UK tour with one of their biggest London headline shows to date on Friday. We’ve tickets up for grabs for that one, if you fancy it, which you should. We’ll have an interview with Maps, the low down on Sonic Youth’s admirably BNP baiting Q Awards show last Friday, and OH LOOK THE NEW DANIEL JOHNSTON LP’S JUST ARRIVED, YEAHHH!!!
So, I’d best be getting on with the aforementioned all of that up there then. I’ll be in touch.
Ta ra,
Tom.x
*Will keep mentioning Addlestones in the vain hope they begin to sponsor me, yes.
