Fruit Bats European Tour Diary Pt.18 Haarlem

Haarlem
Another insanely long drive day through some of the most populated parts of Germany. Traffic. Traffic. A bunch more traffic. Then, on the less trafficked straightaways, driving like we’re trying to get liftoff. 90 miles an hour in the massive Sprinter van, with Germans in BMW’s and sports cars passing us twice as fast. Had to stop in Dortmund for a while to pick up our backline, as we’ve been sharing with Vetiver and now they’ll be leaving us in a day. Then back on the road, same process again, a never ending line of cities. We finally reach the low plains of the Netherlands and then to Haarlem. Typical of any Dutch excursion, we need to be mindful of the 5:00 bicycle traffic jams. Ah, the Dutch - these guys know how to do it! I’m missing my bike back at home and Haarlem is amplifying that. Good show, albeit chatty crowd that renders the tender tunes of either band impossible to convey, but the rockers work. NOT ENOUGH SLEEP. When in Holland, do as the Dutch do, partake in the local goods, y’know? But you need to have a night where you don’t have to wake up a 6:45 AM. Which we did. All the way to London in a day. Yeesh.
