Rockfeedback is proud to announce the arrival of the first Emerging Talent Awards, presented in association with our friends at the Gaymers Camden Crawl. Launching in earnest today, the ETAs (as they’ll affectionately be known) will take a refreshingly wide-eyed approach to undiscovered acts of all genres in an aim to identify the most gifted new artists in the UK today, through a combination of popular vote and judged awards.
Artists may apply to enter the awards from today (January 18th) through the dedicated ETA website, the only criteria for entry being that entrants are new artists based in the UK – submissions from all kinds of acts and genres are encouraged. Each entrant will appear alphabetically on the site from mid February for short listing by public vote in three categories: Best New Band, Best New Solo Artist and Best Live Act. The top 15 voted artists in each category will be announced on the ETA site and Rockfeedback itself on the 15th of March, leaving the ETA judging panel to select the final winners for each award, with the exception of the People’s Choice Award, from the 45 short listed artists.
The panel is to be comprised of music industry experts, including a producer/recording engineer, music journalist, radio DJ, record company A&R person, live promoter, booking agent and, of course, a member of each the Rockfeedback and Crawl teams. The names are under close guard at the moment, but it’s already a heavyweight line up. The People’s Choice Award will instead be chosen by a second round of public voting commencing 15th March. The full list of awards is featured below.
The final award winners will be announced approximately 3 weeks prior to the Gaymers Camden Crawl scheduled to take place 1st & 2nd May 2010. Each winner will be invited to play a 30 minute live set at the Emerging Talent Awards stage at Freedm Studios at The Roundhouse on one of the 2 days of the event and will be presented with their award and prizes by a special guest host following their set in front of a packed Crawl audience.
