What the hell is going on? #23: No Guitars Week
By: Thomas Hannan

Hey.
Welcome to NO GUITARS week on Rockfeedback TV – five new programmes on the telly player, and not one guitar is used amongst ‘em. ‘Cos it’s good to mix things up a bit now and again, hey. It’s not all blokes behind laptops either – NO GUITARS week runs the gambit from critically acclaimed dubstep to unfathomable woodwork experiments, and started on Monday with some chart topping grime from perhaps the most popular man in Britain, Dizzee Rascal (pictured above). We follow that up today with footage of Owen Pallet caught at the Field Day festival in 2009 when he still went under his old name of Final Fantasy. No guitars in that one, but a lot of violin. It is however the trumpet that’s probably the focal point of dubstepper Bass Clef’s Concrete and Glass set, in amongst all that rhythmic trickery. He’ll find his way on screen come Wednesday, and the same festival gifts us our Thursday and Friday coverage, scary minimal techno from Vladislav Delay on the former and those aforementioned unfathomable woodwork experiments from Owl Project to close our week on a completely bizarre but brilliant note.
No guitars either for our artists of the week this week, the absolutely gorgeous electronica of Lindstrøm & Christabelle, who we heartily recommend discovering. Very good with their guitars however are the headliners for Friday’s return of Club Rockfeedback, New Zealand’s So So Modern topping a bill that also features Cold Pumas, Wild Palms and those fellas from White Light DJing into the night. That’s at the Lexington on Friday the 29th of January, and you’ll need a ticket – we’ll see you there.
