What The Hell Is Going On? #33: Rockfeedback’s World Tour Pt. 11

By: Thomas Hannan

Hello mate.

So, two down, one to go – I’m talking about Rockfeedback’s current mini series on Channel 4, airing on Friday nights, of course.  Documentaries about the Pixies and Jarvis Cocker are now out there in the ether, but you could say we saved the best ‘til last – Friday evening sees us air a show focusing on Graham Coxon’s recent triumph of a gig at London’s Barbican.  With a rapturously-received Blur reunion out of the way, Coxon descended upon the famous venue with a band including folk legends Martin Carthy and Robyn Hitchcock to perform his recently released and critically acclaimed solo LP The Spinning Top in its entirety.  Graham and his special guests talk us through a most memorable evening in one of my favourite things to ever have the word ‘Rockfeedback’ delicately slapped on to it.

Back on the ‘net, the Real Talk interviews section of our site is fast becoming my favourite – not only have we recently had a particularly strange contribution from the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe, gone through the looking glass with Andrew WK and laughed ourselves silly at the hands of Kim Fowley, but today, we had some words with the man, the legend, MEAT LOAF.  People call him ‘Meat’.  He told us a story about Susan Boyle.  He screamed “I am nineteen years old – F**K YOU!” whilst looking straight in to our camera.  Footage of that, and other recent talks with Smokey Robinson and Cheap Trick, will be with you shortly.

What’s with you right now however is Rockfeedback’s World Tour, part 11, on the telly player.  Over the course of the coming week, we hop back on the plane to deliver you sets from the now sadly defunct Mae Shi [pictured] (though they were playing a set of Signals songs – the band they became – anyway) over in Barcelona at the Primavera Sound Festival (that’s up today), Cadence Weapon tearing through ‘Real Estate’ in Texas at SXSW on Wednesday, and close on Friday with a rip roarer of a set of cracking indie punk from Brakes at Dorset’s End of the Road festival.

Next Rockfeedback gig for your diary takes the form of Three Trapped Tigers at the ICA on the 29th of April.  It’s the boys’ EP launch, with support from Talons, Samuel Chase and DJ Becoming RealSo get a ticket.
