What The Hell Is Going On? #39: End of the Road Week

By: Thomas Hannan

Hey mate,

With a spectacular line up now completely in place and tickets for it being  snapped up like hot cakes, this week seemed an appropriate one to dedicate to another of our favourite festivals, End of the Road, taking place in Dorset from the 10th ‘til the 12th of September.  The most idyllic, tranquil and soul-enriching environment for a festival we’ve ever encountered, 2009 saw us film a two part documentary on EOTR – part one can be seen here, with part two following it on Wednesday.  The likes of Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, The Hold Steady, The Low Anthem, Wildbirds and Peacedrums, The Dodos, Herman Dune, Bob Log III, Archie Bronson Outfit, Alela Diane, Darren Hayman, Okkervil River, Zun Zun Egui, The Acorn, Motel Motel, Bob Lind with Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley, J. Tillman, Iain Archer, Loney Dear, Quack Quack, William Elliot Whitmore, The Travelling Band, Laura Gibson and T-Model Ford (still the only convicted murderer Rockfeedback has ever interviewed) all feature, before we close for the week on Friday with an EOTR special on Dan Sartain.

As line ups go, perhaps the only thing that can surpass the bands featured in this week’s Rockfeedback TV programming up there is the 2010 End of the Road roster itself.  This year, the likes of Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, Wilco, Iron and Wine, Black Mountain, The Mountain Goats, Wolf Parade, The New Pornographers, Radiohead’s Phil Selway, Caribou, The Antlers, Cate Le Bon, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Plants and Animals and Three Trapped Tigers will all descend on the green and pleasant fields of Dorset for an event you’re strongly advised to purchase a ticket for.  Which you can sort by going over here.

Following on from our Warpaint and Esben and the Witch show at London’s Lexington last night, Rockfeedback Live have got a tonne of gigs coming up from the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses and Gaggle in the coming weeks and months.  As for the telly boys, we head out to Primavera Sound in Barcelona to film for a Rockfeedback TV special at 3am tomorrow morning – so I’m off for a lie down.
