What The Hell Is Going On? #47: Camden Crawl Week II
By: Thomas Hannan

Hey mate.
So we’re back from the weekend’s Secret Garden Party in body if not in spirit, it always being one of the more riotous festival weekends of the year – thank you, Cambridgeshrie! But before we gear up yet again to film the coming weekend’s Field Day and Underage Festivals, we look back to another of the perennial events on the Rockfeedback TV calendar, namely the infamous Camden Crawl.
This week we devote the telly player to a classic from the C.C. archive and another pair of treats from the 2010 event, starting today with a truly fascinating piece on Florence and the Machine (pictured above). Filmed two years ago at the tiny Black Cap cabaret bar, the early footage shows a very different Florence Welch from the chart bothering chanteuse she was shortly to become, and yet in a backstage interview she’s clearly and admirably unable to contain the huge ambition that would soon propel her to superstardom. On Wednesday, we turn to New Young Pony Club to provide our synth driven pop thrills with a performance and interview shot at Koko at the festival earlier this year, the same venue providing the stage on to which Yacht would rock up and do their thing, also offering us a wry, sarcasm-ridden chat which you’ll see in the footage come Friday’s dawn.
Back in the physical world, Daniel Monsell of Rockfeedback Live may have been swanning about in New York all last week, but despite being back in town all of four seconds he’s already working his be-hind off to make sure that tomorrow’s Rockfeedback gig at The Lexington in North London with These Are Powers, Quack Quack and Masks is the rousing success we’re certain it will be anyway. Things like more details and tickets can be sourced by clicking on those slightly different coloured words you just read.
What’s up elsewhere on the site? Well, speaking as we were of the Field Day festival just a moment ago, you can still just about win a ticket or two by entering our competition, we’ve got a great Artist of the Week piece on the heavier than heavy Black Mountain, interviews with the likes of Perfume Genius and !!!, a whole host of great free downloads in the shape of the return of Frederick Mikardo-Greaves’ Home Taping Is Killing Music column, and reviews of festivals all over Europe, including Exit, Lovebox and Slottsfjell.
