Behind The Scenes on Kotki Dwa’s new video for ‘Halloween’
By: Thomas Hannan

Rockfeedback are delighted to announce the return of one of our favourite perennially ‘new’ bands ever, Kokti Dwa. After profiling them as our band of the week way back at the start of 2008, we’re pleased to report the trio remain as doggedly DIY as ever, and indeed, why not? It’s a technique that has always worked pretty superbly for the band; from their luscious bedroom recordings to the immaculate handmade sleeves of their fine debut LP Onlyyouarenotsleeping, there are few more trustworthy advocates of the hands-on approach than these three frightfully talented young men. Their new chronologically-appropriate single ‘Halloween’ is no exception, and nor is its fittingly spooky video.
Released this week as a free download via their website, the characteristically charming tune is a accompanied by a blood-curdling B-Movie style horror film shot on Super 8mm by long time collaborators Loopshapers, and features characters with names as shiversome as ‘The Blob’ and ‘The 50ft Woman’. Scenes were filmed in and around Nunhead’s newly reopened ‘Ivy House’, with plenty of strange looks from locals. “When you’re going through Lewisham on the 436 in full zombie makeup, dicky bow and show jacket – alone – it’s difficult to relax and enjoy the ride.” explains singer Alex Ostrowski.
Our good pal Huw Stephens will give the track its first play on the airwaves on his BBC Radio 1 this evening, but the brave among you will be pleased to know you can watch the video below, and further enjoy some behind the scenes (screams?) shots documenting the exact happenings of that horrifying day.
Who am I kidding, it’s a Kotki Dwa video! Horrifying? The thing’s positively lovely.
