Exclusive – Hauschka’s new video for ‘Alexanderplatz’

By: Thomas Hannan

Rockfeedback are pleased to offer this exclusive footage of Hauschka performing the lead song from his fine Foreign Landscapes LP, ‘Alexanderplatz’.  The footage was recorded live at the Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco in January 2010, with the Magik*Magik Orchestra playing alongside Hauschka himself.  Talking about the songs in a recent track by track run through of his new LP, its composer had the following to offer...

“Alexanderplatz is a square in the former East part of Berlin with the Television Tower...  in the 90s I did my first band photo shoot in the tower.  Mostly when I stay in Berlin, this square is very near and seems like my second home.”

The kind of footage that makes you want to be an actual musician as opposed to just some loser messing about with a guitar, the sleeping cat lazing about the studio contrasts nicely with the intense look of concentration on the performers’ faces, mirroring the at once playful and foreboding nature of the tune.
