Gogglebox #11: Watch Arctic Monkeys - 'Brick By Brick'
By: Mike Harounoff

They're back! It's been a little while since we heard from our old mates Arctic Monkeys but they've got back in touch and it's bloody good to hear from them. Although, just like an old friend who has been out the loop for a while, are they still the same person they used to be, the person you wanted to spend all your time with? You know, the person that really understood you? Or are things just not the same, you've changed they've changed, you're friends with different people... what can be done?
Turns out Alex and co. aren't the disappointing mate who's only gonna chew your ear off about the exciting things he's been doing whilst you've been out of touch, instead it's the opposite. 'Brick by Brick' sees a return to the fun side of the Arctic Monkeys largely absent on their last record nd theyre all the better for it, the record essentially being a tour de force of all the ways we've seen them grow since listening to scratchy live recording 6 years ago.
The video itself is all too aware of how exciting this all is, even the most casual listener still wants to hear what they're doing again and we wait tentatively whilst some girl takes her time all non-chalant chucking on the vinyl. Oh I see, she's supposed to be me listening to it and judging them and stuff except at the end she walks away and looks like she doesn't really care too much but I've just listened to it for the 8th time in a row.
All in all it's a pleasant return to form and a reminder that while we're never going to get as excited about our old mate the arctic monkeys as much as we did when we first met them they're still one of the best bands around.
