Gogglebox #24: Watch Animal Collective Preview Brand New Tracks
By: Mike Harounoff

There are some bands that are pretty much universally agreed upon, and Animal Collective are as close as 2011 has to one of them. If a bitter musical argument occurs between two friends, a simple mention of Animal Collective seems enough to stop the storm of words. If you're in the pub and a friend has a brought along a new person who turns to ask "so what kind of music are you in to?", retort with "Animal Collective" and they'll be buying you drinks all night. If you're in a club and an attractive member of the opposite sex strikes about a conversation about music, chuck in that you still really rate 'Merriweather Post Pavillion', and you'll probably end up marrying them. Yes, I think it's fair to say Animal Collective (and more importantly that album) really are a safe bet, but have you ever wondered what will happen to their legacy when its follow up comes out? What if it's a little bit rubbish? Well not , to worry - the band played three new tracks at the Phoenix Theatre in California this week, and they're very good. The guy who shot this has a phone with very good sound and is also void of the shaky hands most people that operate camera phones seem to have.
