Gogglebox #26: Watch TV On The Radio play a whole set on Letterman

After some relatively quiet years since the release of Dear Science back in 2008, New York's art-funk group du jour of the past decade are back with the much-raved about Nine Types of Light. A broody, beautiful record, it's sure to remind everyone that TV on the Radio have been one of the most consistently groundbreaking bands of recent times, even if they don't shout about it that much. Last week, they teamed up with CBS to stream a 40-minute set live from The Late Show with David Letterman, which even by their generous standards is quite a treat. New songs and old songs sit side by side with ease, demonstrating the uncanny knack the group has of sounding like no-one else and yet maintaining a distinct identity. Shot in excellent quality, the band jives and shimmies around the stage with more energy than is usual for a TV performance (well, unless you’re Odd Future), and the tightness of the set hints at potential greatness waiting for them on the festival circuit. And yes, they do play 'Wolf Like Me'.
