New Idea #52: Spector
By: Mike Harounoff
Do you remember Les Incompetents? They were pretty good right? It was always a shame they didn't stick around, but it was probably for the best. How about Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man, they were pretty good too right? I liked them, it's a shame they didn't stick around, but the music we got was good and it was probably for the best... What do we mean when we say it was probably for the best? Often we just follow it by some elipses and hope people don't pick us up on it, but now for the first time we can back up our aformentioned saying thanks to the help of Mr. Fred Macpherson. It was probably for the best as now we have Spector, the latest project from Fred, and they are brilliant. Essentially serving as the culmination of all the 50's and 60's inpsired surf rock and doo wop that rapidly took over our beloved blogs last year, Spector really know how to write a hit, in the truest sense of the word. The Phil Spector or Brian Wilson sense of the word. Listen to Never Fade Away below and let's cross our fingers and hope that Spector don't, erm, fade away. It certainly wouldn't be for the best.
