You know what's been missing from music this year? Fun. I mean proper fun, without any agenda or subtext, just full on bubblegum fun. You know whose finally filled that joy spaced hole in our lives? Battles. I know, of all the bands to bringt the laughing gas to the gloomy party that is 2011, you wouldn't have expected Battles, would ya? They're usually the guys who've found your brother's bedroom and are sitting around the computer geeking out at some Steve Jobs YouTube video. But this year, they even ordered the keg too.
