Gogglebox: Watch Bjork – Gameleste

By: Fred Mikardo-Greaves

I don't need to tell you that Bjork is great, has always been great, and will always be great. You already know that. However, clearly not content with re-inventing the concept of pop music every time she releases a new LP, she's now decided to tackle the very meat and bones of music-making itself - the instruments.

Gearing up for her coming record Biophilia, Bjork has embarked on a tour with no fewer than seven custom-made instruments intended to best convey the sound of the album. What's that? 'Why doesn't she just get one person to play the celeste and one other guy to play the Gamelan?' To that I respond - because she can build an instrument that does it in one, and that's why Bjork's fucking gangster.

Alas, we don't actually see the grand old witch of pop in this clip, but we do get a fascinating insight into the construction of the 'Gameleste', one of the seven pieces she'll be taking on tour with her. This is dope.
