Gogglebox: Watch St. Spirit – ‘Build A Life’
St. Spirit are a rock band from South London. Nothing funny there, you say, except the music scene seems a little short on their type nowadays. And this group really are a proper rock band, with all the ballsy idealism and emotional sensitivity that entails. After a few years of gigging locally, they've finally put out their first clip, an animated number for the gut-busting 'Build a Life'. A nifty nautical number, the depths of the ocean and the fisherman on the surface are used in the same way that the song apes the Pixies' loud-quiet-loud formula, emphasising a slightly beffudling but ultimately moving story about a man who nicks a squid from the seabed and in doing so angers Poseidon or something. Choppy waves, choppy chords, a great bellowing hook, squid - what more do you want from a music video?
