The Basement Club #18: The Lowdown
By: Toby L
Gordon Raphael and rockfeedback's flagship Basement Club promotion came to a tumultuous musical finale this week (Thursday 27th May) when over two-hundred attendees were turned away on the night, due to exceptional demand.
Around the same number that somehow got in, however, were able to enjoy the clanging, euphoric, sax-strewn blues-feedback enchantment of The Duke Spirit (the band's Leila Moss pictured conversing with friend, post-show), sultry folk-punk of Archie Bronson Outfit, and the jubilant soul-indie of The Magic Numbers (image below), whose half-hour opening set was akin to a suddening peace on earth (the closing couplet of 'Love's A Game' and 'Mornings Eleven' is as sweeping and sumptuous as music gets).

The full review and pictures are due online soon. 'Til then, bask in the set-list of The Duke Spirit, printed below:
'Nine And Scramble'
'Cuts Across The Land'
'Dark Is Light Enough'
'Darling You're Mean'
'Lion Rip'
'So Good To Hear'
'Drinking You In'
'Every Cell Can Tell'
'Lovetones'
'Red Weather'.
