Listen To: The Invisible - 'Protection'
By: Mike Harounoff
The Invisible first came to our attention way back in the day when they were an exciting part of a bulging London scene home to the likes of Micachu, Sampha, Ghostpoet and a whole host of other brilliant experimental urban-based musicians. They earned a Mercury nomination for their self-titled debut record, but rather than trade in on that success they seemingly disappeared into thin air; our only knowledge of their whereabouts came from singer Dave Okumu's work with our new favourite singer Jessie Ware. However, the disappearing act is now over, and The Invisible could not have chosen a better time to become visible again. Their naturally intelligent, soulful and innovative music is certainly part of what is accepted as the norm right now, it's just that The Invisible do it so much better and in a way that's so much more real. Listen to 'Protection' below.
