Gogglebox: Watch Julia Holter - 'In The Same Room'
By: Mike Harounoff

We've only just caught wind of Julia Holter's brilliant leftfield pop, but it's one of our favourite discoveries to date. New track 'In The Same Room' is the kind of thing we'd imagine Grimes would make if she swapped sitting in her bedroom taking acid for sitting in her bedroom dissecting classic records. An artist in the truest sense of the word, Holter's debut 'Tragedy' (based on the ancient Greek play Hippolytus) was full of lengthy ethreal musings, always hinting at pop sensibilites but giving the feeling that Holter herself was the one holding them back. New record 'Ekstasis' is a clear step forward both musically and creatively, with the singer allowing her influences - Joni Mitchell, Robert Wyatt etc - to find their way to the forefront, pushing boundaries just as they once had. A truly exciting artist.
